Portland has the vibe of a city while still being quintessentially Maine. The attitude in this place made me feel like an uberhyper New Yorker. Unfortunately, the pics from there aren't as numerous as I was driving and it was harder to stop and I was feeling a bit lazy. But it's the neighborhoods where this city gets really interesting. Most of them concern the touristy Old Port area (a walker's paradise). These pictures don't do the city justice. Jutting east into Casco Bay, Portland is surrounded on three sides by water, so the city’s life and livelihood have always been tied to the ocean. With the initial goal of being able to simulate a city with a million unique citizens, Colossal Order has succeeded in creating a game unmatched in scale. Portland, Maine is a small but lively city by the sea, where the sounds and smells of the ocean permeate every neighborhood. With critics pretty much unanimously agreeing, it’s simply the best in the genre right now. I took these while spending Labor Day weekend there. When talking about city-builders, Cities: Skylines is easily the first one that comes to mind.
